Description And Operation: Description
FRONT HEATING AND A/C SYSTEM
All vehicles are equipped with a common Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) housing (1). The HVAC system combines Air Conditioning (A/C), heating, and ventilating capabilities in a single unit mounted within the passenger compartment, beneath the instrument panel. The HVAC housing components include:
- Mode door actuator and air doors
- Recirculation door actuator and air door
- Cabin air filter, when equipped
- Blower motor
- Blower motor power module
- Blend door actuator and air door
- Evaporator temperature sensor
- A/C expansion valve
- Heater core
- A/C evaporator
- Driver side blend door actuator and air door
- Front HVAC Module
Based upon the system and selected mode, conditioned air can exit the HVAC housing through one or a combination of the four main housing outlets: defrost, panel, floor and console. The defrost and panel outlets are located on the top of the HVAC housing, the floor outlets are located at each side of the HVAC housing, and the console outlet is located at the bottom rear of the HVAC housing. Once the conditioned air exits the HVAC housing, it is then directed through molded plastic ducts to the outlets within the vehicle interior. These outlets and their locations are as follows:
- Defroster Outlets - Two large defroster outlets are located near the center of the instrument panel top cover, near the base of the windshield.
- Side Window Demister Outlets - There are two side window demister outlets. One is located at the bottom of each A-pillar.
- Panel Outlets - There are four panel outlets in the instrument panel. One located near each outboard end of the instrument panel facing the rear of the vehicle and one located on each side of the instrument panel center bezel.
- Floor Outlets - There are four floor panel outlets. One outlet located above each side of the floor panel center tunnel near the dash panel and one outlet located under the rear of each front seat.
REAR HEATING AND A/C SYSTEM
The available rear HVAC system is equipped with a housing (1) that combines A/C and heating capabilities into a single unit that is mounted in the rear passenger compartment, behind the right quarter trim panel. The rear HVAC housing includes:
- Blower motor
- Blower motor power module
- Wire harness
- A/C evaporator
- A/C expansion valve
- Heater core
- Blend door and actuator
- Mode door and actuator
- Rear HVAC Module
Based upon the rear temperature selected, conditioned air can exit the rear HVAC housing through one or a combination of the two outlets at the top of the housing. Once the conditioned air exits the rear HVAC housing, it is then directed through molded plastic ducts to the air outlets located in the rear of the passenger compartment. These air outlets and their locations are as follows:
- Upper Outlets - There are four air outlets with adjustable vanes located in the headliner.
