The evaporator temperature sensor (2) is used to maintain evaporator (1) temperature just above freezing for maximum cooling and dehumidification. The evaporator temperature sensor is:
- A Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC)-type design sensor
- Located on the evaporator in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) housing
- Able to change its internal resistance in response to changes in the temperature
- Monitored by the HVAC module (ATC)
