Removal And Installation: Installation
NOTE:
With assistance, support the liftgate while the hinges are being installed.
NOTE:
Apply a suitable heavy bodied urethane seam sealer on the hinge to body mating surface prior to installation.
- Apply a heavy bodied urethane seam sealer on the hinge to body mating surfaces.
- Place the liftgate hinge (2) onto the vehicle and loosely install the bolts (1).
- Align the liftgate hinge with the reference mark made previously and tighten the liftgate hinge to body bolt to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove any excess seam sealer squeeze-out.
- Place the liftgate (1) onto the hinge (2) and loosely install the bolt (3).
- Align the liftgate with the reference mark made previously and tighten the liftgate hinge to liftgate bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Check the liftgate for proper alignment and operation, adjust if necessary.
- Check for water leaks at the liftgate hinge to body bolts
- Install the luggage rack. Refer to RACK, LUGGAGE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
