Checking Engine Oil Pressure

  1. Remove the oil filter and cap. Refer to FILTER, ENGINE OIL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Transfer the oil filter to the (special tool #2021500090, Adapter, Late Version 3.6L Oil Pressure Test)
  3. Install Pressure Gauge (special tool #C-3292A, Gauge, Pressure) (1) to the Oil Pressure Test Adapter.
  4. Install the Oil Pressure Test Adapter to the engine and securely tighten.
  5. Start and idle the engine. If oil pressure is 0 at idle, shut off the engine and consult the Engine Lubrication and Diagnostic Table. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .
  6. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
  7. Verify that the engine has acceptable oil pressure. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
