Removal And Installation: Removal
NOTE:
If the Oil Filter Adapter is being removed for an Oil Leak Condition, Oil Dye (P/N - CH5010042AC) MUST be used first do determine the location of the oil leak. (If oil dye has not been used, the repair will not be validated)
- Perform the fuel system pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL DELIVERY, GAS, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the oil pressure sensor wire harness connectors (1).
- Remove the heater hose (1) from the oil filter housing.
- Remove five bolts (1) and remove the oil filter housing.NOTE:
If there is an oil leak (identified by the use of Oil Dye - CH5010042AC) coming from between the Oil Filter Adapter (OFA) and the valley deck mating surfaces, replace only the four gaskets and the drain tube O-ring as shown in illustration here. The O-ring and four gasket set is #68191356AA.
- Remove and discard the oil filter housing seals (1-5).
- If there is a need to replace the oil pressure sensor (1), use a deep well socket of the correct size (1-1/16" or 27mm). Use extreme care to keep the socket in line with the sensor to prevent the sensor insert from turning in the housing creating a potential leak.
