Removal And Installation - Fwd: Removal
WARNING:
The fuel system is under constant pressure even with engine off. Until the fuel pressure has been properly relieved from the system, do not attempt to open the fuel system. Do not smoke or use open flames/sparks when servicing the fuel system. Wear protective clothing and eye protection. Make sure the area in which the vehicle is being serviced is in a well ventilated area.
- Perform the Draining Fuel Tank procedure. Refer to FUEL DELIVERY, GAS, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Reposition the floor carpet to expose the fuel pump module access cover. Refer to CARPET, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Remove the fasteners (1) and the fuel pump module access cover.
- Unlock and disconnect the fuel pump module wire harness connector (1).
- Disconnect the fuel tank vapor lines (2 and 3) from the fuel pump module. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the fuel line (1) from the fuel pump module. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Thoroughly clean the area around the fuel fill fitting and rubber fuel fill hose at the fuel tank.
- Remove the hose clamp (2) and the fuel fill hose from the fuel tank.
- Use a transmission jack or similar to support the fuel tank.WARNING:
Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack or equivalent. Use straps to secure the fuel tank to the jack. Failure to properly support and secure the fuel tank during removal may cause fuel to spill or the fuel tank to fall from the jack.
- Remove the fasteners (1) and the fuel tank straps.
- Lower the fuel tank.
- If required, remove the fuel pump module. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
