Right - AWD: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

  2. Disconnect the right side upstream oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).
  3. Remove the right side upstream oxygen sensor from the catalytic converter (2).

  4. Disconnect the right side downstream oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).
  5. Remove the right side downstream oxygen sensor from the catalytic converter (2).
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  7. Remove the belly pan and the exhaust cross-under pipe from vehicle. Refer to PIPE, EXHAUST CROSSUNDER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Remove the right side half shaft assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    NOTE:

    The lower bolts for the converter flange are used to hold a guide retainer plate (2). The retainer does not need to be removed. The catalytic converter (1) is held in by the plate and upper bolts.

  9. Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold upper bolts (1).
  10. Remove the catalytic converter support bracket bolt (2).
  11. Remove the catalytic converter by lifting and sliding the flange up and away from the exhaust manifold.

  12. If required, remove the lower retainer plate (2) and the exhaust gasket from the manifold flange.
  13. If required, remove the upstream and downstream oxygen sensors from the catalytic converter.
