Description And Operation: Description
All models are equipped with a combination antenna (1) for reception of Amplitude Modulation/Frequency Modulation (AM/FM), Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular, Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (SDARS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) signals. This antenna is also referred to as the SAT antenna and is part of the satellite audio system of the vehicle. The combination antenna (1) is mounted to the rear of the roof panel on the vehicle center line.
The combination antenna includes the following capabilities:
- AM/FM - AM and FM radio signals are received through this antenna and delivered to the Radio Receiver Module (RRM).
- Cellular - The cellular antenna is an electromagnetic circuit component designed to effectively capture radiated frequency and transmit signals in the LTE cellular broadcast bands.
- Global Positioning System - The GPS antenna is capable of simultaneously receiving signals from up to eight GPS satellite or terrestrial broadcast antennas. The navigation system requires a minimum of three satellite or terrestrial signals to provide adequate information to the GPS navigation unit.
- Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service - The SDARS antenna enables the vehicle to receive broadcast signals from the Sirius XM satellite and delivers the signal to the satellite digital audio receiver.
The combination antenna cannot be adjusted or repaired. If ineffective or damaged it must be replaced with a new unit.
