Diagnostic Test
- ANTENNA INSPECTION
- Using Service Information locate and verify the antenna is on the vehicle.
- Visually inspect the Antenna for damage.
Is the antenna missing or damaged?
Yes
- Replace the Satellite Antenna in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 2
- CHECK THE ANTENNA CONNECTIONS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Satellite Radio Antenna connector at the Antenna.
- Disconnect the Satellite Radio Antenna connector at the rear of the Radio.
- Inspect both of the Satellite Radio Antenna connections and verify the Antenna is torqued to specification.
Were the antenna connections clean and torqued to specification?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Clean the Satellite Antenna connection(s) / torque to specification as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE RADIO NOTE:
Antenna reception testing
must
be done outside and away from man made structures or natural features to ensure all signals are not obstructed.
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-SAT, Antenna) to the antenna connection on the back of the Radio.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Radio on and set it to Satellite band.
- Tune into several satellite stations.
Is the Satellite reception still poor or not available?
Yes
- Replace the Radio in accordance to the service information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- TEST THE ANTENNA CABLE AT THE GLOVE BOX OPENING NOTE:
Antenna reception testing
must
be done outside and away from man made structures or natural features to ensure all signals are not obstructed.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the (special tool #9977-6-SAT, Antenna) from the Antenna cable at the Radio.
- Connect the antenna cable back up to the Radio.
- Remove the Glove Box Assembly.
- Disconnect the yellow SDAR antenna connector that is attached to the blower housing.
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-SAT, Antenna) with the 9977-6-5 adapter, to the SDAR antenna connector at the glove box opening.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Radio on and set it to Satellite band.
- Tune into several satellite stations.
Is the Satellite reception now poor or not available?
Yes
- Replace the antenna cable between the Radio and the in-line connector at the glove box opening.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- TEST THE ANTENNA CABLE FROM THE GLOVE BOX OPENING TO THE ANTENNA CONNECTOR NOTE:

NOTE:To continue this test, will require two technicians.
CAUTION:Be extremely careful not to pull too hard on the headliner which could cause it to buckle. Support it if it starts to drop.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Re-connect the yellow SDAR connector at the glove box opening.
- Lower the headliner.
- Once the headliner is loose, move the front seats forward and lower the front seat backs and rest the headliner on top of the seats.
- Disconnect the yellow SDAR antenna cable connector on the rear roof support at the antenna base.
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-SAT, Antenna) to the yellow SDAR Antenna cable connector near the antenna base.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Radio on and set it to Satellite band.
- Tune into several Satellite stations.
Is the Satellite reception now poor or not available?
Yes
- Replace the Antenna cable from the glove box opening to the Satellite Antenna.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Satellite Antenna base in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
