Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read and record DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Navigate to PCM System Tests and perform the Active Grill Shutter test.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
Is the DTC active or pending at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER OPERATION
- Turn the ignition off.
- Visually inspect the Active Grill Shutter Assembly for the items listed but, not limited to the following:
- Dirt, ice or obstructions that could cause the Active Grill Shutter Assembly to bind causing linkage or shutters to become disconnected.
- Damaged or disconnected Active Grill Shutter Actuator linkages.
- Damaged Active Grill Shutter Assembly frame or shutters.
- Loose or missing Active Grill Shutter Actuator mounting bolts/retainers.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair the item causing the failure and retest for an active fault.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (A940) FUSED B+ CIRCUITS AT THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER ACTUATOR
- Disconnect the Active Grill Shutter Actuator harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (A940) Fused B+ circuit at the Active Grill Shutter Actuator harness connector.
Is the voltage equal to battery voltage?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (Z905) GROUND CIRCUIT AT THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER ACTUATOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z905) Ground circuit at the Active Grill Shutter Actuator harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Active Grill Shutter Actuator in accordance with the Service Information. Navigate to Miscellaneous functions and perform the 'Active Grille Shutter Replaced' procedure.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair the (Z905) Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
