Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
Is the DTC active or pending?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
Are there any 5-Volt Supply circuit or Crankcase Pressure Sensor circuit DTCs active or pending?
Yes
- Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
No
- Go To 3
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
- CHECK THE CRANKCASE HOSES FOR CLOGGING, LEAKS, OR OTHER DAMAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Inspect the Crankcase Hose and connections for signs of clogging, leaks, or other damage.
Is the Crankcase Hose broken, pinched, leaking, or otherwise damaged?
Yes
- Replace the damaged hose in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR LEAKS
- Visually inspect the Intake Manifold for signs leaks or damage.
Were any issues or leaks found at the Intake Manifold?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate repair in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the PCV Valve in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Visually inspect the Intake Manifold for signs leaks or damage.
