Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Event Data and Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK MANUAL PARK RELEASE CABLE
- Disconnect the Manual Park Release (MPR) cable at the transmission. Refer to CABLE, MANUAL PARK RELEASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Inspect the MPR cable for damage and proper routing. Restore the proper routing or replace the MPR cable in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK INTERNAL PARK LOCK HARDWARE
- Remove the Valve Body and inspect the Park Lock hardware and solenoids for binding and damage. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair the Park Lock Hardware or Solenoid in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Valve Body in accordance with the Service Information.
Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- Remove the Valve Body and inspect the Park Lock hardware and solenoids for binding and damage. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
