Theory Of Operation

This diagnostic detects a sticking Dog Clutch A when the shifter is shifted into the REVERSE position. If the error is detected, all clutches will be disengaged and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will not be illuminated. The diagnostic monitors the Input and Output Speed Sensor signals and compares them to calibrated values to determine if the failure is present.
