Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the appropriate INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (J107) VIDEO CABLE CONNECTIONS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Inspect the video cable connection at the rear of the Display Screen Module (DSM).
- Inspect the video cable connection at the rear of the Radio.
Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the video cable connection as needed.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- TEST THE (J107) LVDS CABLE
- Connect the 9977-6-14 HSD-LVDS Adapter test cable between the Radio and DSM.(special tool #9977-6-14, Adapter, HSD-LVDS 4-Pin)
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) Video Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CONNECT A KNOWN GOOD RADIO TO THE LVDS VIDEO CABLE - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN NOTE:
To continue with this test, you must secure a known good Radio.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect a known good Radio to the LVDS cable.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for at least 5 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Replace the Display Screen Module (DSM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DISPLAY SCREEN (DSM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Radio in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to RADIO, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
