C-Clutch Measurement
After the C-clutch is cleaned and assembled the end play must be measured to verify that the correct select snap ring has been installed.
- Position the transaxle housing on a suitable arbor press.
- Using tool (special tool #10429, Gauge, Force) (2), (special tool #8901A, Pressing Tool) (with pressure scale removed) (3), and legs (special tool #10428, Adapter, Pressing Tool), compress the C-clutch (4) with 3.2 kg/cm2
(45 psi).
- Using a suitable feeler gauge (1), measure the gap (2) between the C-clutch reaction plate and the C-clutch select snap-ring. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .NOTE:
Diesel and V-6 gas engine clutch pack shown in illustration above, 4 cylinder gas engines will have one less friction disc (3) and steel plate (4).
- If measurement does not match the specifications, replace the C-clutch select snap ring (1) with the appropriate thickness to obtain the correct clearance.
