Removal And Installation: Fwd: Installation

  1. Position the steering gear to the sub cradle then install the steering gear to sub cradle fasteners (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  2. Install the bracket (2) and tighten the bracket fasteners (1).

  3. Install the dash seal to steering gear fasteners (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
    NOTE:

    Apply medium strength threadlocker to the studs before installing fasteners.

  4. Position the heat shield (2) to the steering gear and install the heat shield to steering gear fasteners (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the front cradle. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Install exhaust crossunder pipe. Refer to PIPE, EXHAUST CROSSUNDER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Tighten the trans mount fastener to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  8. Install both outer tie rod stud to the knuckle and install both outer tie rod to knuckle fasteners (3) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  9. Install the dash seal to dash panel fasteners (2) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
    NOTE:

    Apply medium strength threadlocker to the fasteners.

  10. Install a NEW  steering shaft to steering gear pinch fastener (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Remove the supports and lower vehicle.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  14. Perform a wheel alignment. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  15. Perform the Electric Power Steering (EPS) verification test. Refer to EPS VERIFICATION TEST .
