Outer Tie Rod End: Removal
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Measure the length of the threads showing on the inner tie rod for installation reference.
- Loosen the tie rod jam fastener (1).
- Remove the outer tie rod end to knuckle mounting fastener (3).
- Remove outer tie rod end (2) from the knuckle using ball joint remover special tool (special tool #9360, Remover, Ball Joint).
- Remove the tie rod end from the inner tie rod.
