Diagnostic Test

  1. DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC 
    NOTE:

    Make sure the battery is fully charged.

    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Perform ORC module reset. Access the Miscellaneous Function menu from the ORC ECU Overview screen on the scan tool to perform this operation.
    3. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Is the DTC active or stored?

      ORC - ACTIVE DTC 

      • Go To  2

      ORC - STORED DTC 

  2. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL ACTIVE SQUIB DTCS 
    1. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Are there squib specific DTCs set as active in addition to B1BB9-00-AIRBAG SQUIB CIRCUIT COUPLING?

      Yes 

      • Repair all other active squib specific DTCs before repairing B1BB9-00-AIRBAG SQUIB CIRCUIT COUPLING. Be sure to check the connectors at the ORC making sure they are seated and locked correctly. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. REPLACE THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) 

    There are no other squib DTCs set?

    No 

    WARNING:

    If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
