Removal And Installation: Removal

CAUTION:

Vacuum in power brake booster must be pumped down (removed) before removing master cylinder from power brake booster. This is necessary to prevent power brake booster from sucking in any contamination as master cylinder is removed. This can be done simply by pumping brake pedal, with vehicle's engine not running, until a firm feeling brake pedal is achieved.

CAUTION:

Before removing master cylinder from power brake vacuum booster, master cylinder and vacuum booster must be thoroughly cleaned. This must be done to prevent dirt particles from falling into power brake vacuum booster.

NOTE:

Before proceeding. Refer to WARNING . Refer to CAUTION .

  1. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Remove the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. With the engine not running, pump the brake pedal 4-5 strokes until the pedal feel is firm.

  4. Remove the brake line flare fasteners (2) from the master cylinder, then remove the brake lines from the master cylinder.
  5. Remove the brake fluid level sensor by disengaging the clips (1) and pulling the sensor from the brake fluid reservoir.

  6. Remove and DISCARD  the master cylinder fasteners (2), then remove the master cylinder.
  7. Remove and DISCARD  master cylinder vacuum seal.
