Removal And Installation: Removal
CAUTION:
If the Electric Park Brake (EPB) switch is actuated with the caliper removed from the caliper bracket and still connected electrically, the EPB motor will fully extend causing damage to the caliper piston. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
NOTE:
If the EPB switch is removed while power is still applied to the vehicle, it will set a general switch fault Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in the EPB module. The EPB switch is monitored by the EPB module to confirm it's availability at all times.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the shift bezel (1). Refer to SHIFTER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the EPB switch wire harness connector.
- Remove the fasteners (1) from the EPB switch.
- Remove the EPB switch.
