Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

It is not necessary to remove the liftgate to replace one or both hinges. The hinges can be replaced one at a time.

Remove the luggage rack on the necessary side of vehicle. Refer to RACK, LUGGAGE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Using a trim stick or equivalent, remove the hinge cover.
Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the position of the liftgate hinge (2) on the body and on the liftgate to aid in installation.
With the help of an assistant, support the liftgate and remove the liftgate hinge bolts (1) from the roof.

With the help of an assistant, support the liftgate (1) and remove the liftgate hinge bolt (3) from the liftgate and remove liftgate hinge (2).
