Description And Operation: Description
The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) features a driver-interactive display (3). The display is located in the middle of the instrument cluster between the speedometer and tachometer. This system conveniently allows the driver to select a variety of useful information by pressing the switches mounted on the steering wheel. The EVIC displays information related to the following:
- Audio mode display
- Compass
- Outside temperature
- Personal Settings (customer programmable features)
- System Status
- Tire Pressure Monitor System
- Trip computer functions
- Vehicle information warning message displays
The EVIC system is comprised of several different components. Those components are:
- Instrument Cluster
- Steering Wheel Switches
- Ambient Temperature Sensor
- Controller Area Network (CAN) Data Bus
The EVIC display is part of the Instrument Cluster assembly and is not serviced as a separate component. If the display is inoperative, the complete Instrument Cluster assembly must be replaced. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . If the EVIC function buttons are inoperative and require replacement, for the appropriate procedure. Refer to SWITCH, EVIC CONTROL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
