Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
The use of a approved special tool or Digital Multimeter such as a Fluke Meter that will not apply more than 20 milliamperes to a circuit are the only measurement tools to be used.
NOTE:Probing of the circuit cavities at the ORC Module C1-A, C1-B, or C2-A body harness connectors is only to be done with a approved test lead from the 10159-6. Or a comparable test lead to prevent vehicle wiring harness connector damage during diagnostic procedures (special tool #10159, Test Leads, Dedicated)
- Turn the ignition on and open one of the front doors.NOTE:
A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs.
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes

No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- Turn the ignition on and open one of the front doors.
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON THE (R41) AUTOMATED COLLISION NOTIFICATION CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Radio C1 harness connector.
- Disconnect the ORC Module connectors.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure for voltage on the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit at the Radio C1 harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (R41) circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No

- CHECK THE (R41) AUTOMATED COLLISION NOTIFICATION CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Radio harness connector and Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit between the Radio C1 harness connector and the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) harness connector.
Is the resistance above 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
WARNING:Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the ORC Module according to the Service Information. Refer to CONTROLLER, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT (ORC), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .

- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all Radio harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all Radio harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Radio in accordance with the Service information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO RECEIVER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
