Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Radio on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK FOR PCM DTCS
- With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.
- Check for any Crankshaft related DTCs.
Were there any Crankshaft DTCs found in the PCM?
Yes
- Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (X478) ANC BUFFERED CRANK POSITION (+) CIRCUIT AND (X479) ANC BUFFERED CRANK POSITION (-) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance of the (X478) Crankshaft Pulse Signal (+) circuit and (X479) Crankshaft Pulse Signal (-) circuit between the PCM C1 harness connector and the Amplifier harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Amplifier in accordance with the Service information. Refer to AMPLIFIER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (X478) Crankshaft Pulse Signal (+) circuit or the (X479) Crankshaft Pulse Signal (-) circuit for an open circuit or high resistance.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the Radio on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Replace the PCM in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
