948TE-9HP48 Transmission Verification Test

Verification Test 

  1. Reinstall any removed components.
  2. Reconnect any disconnected electrical connectors.
  3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    CAUTION:

    Apply the parking brake.

  4. With the scan tool, display the Transmission Temperature.
  5. Start the engine and allow the transmission fluid temperature to reach 43° C (110° F).
  6. Check for Transmission fluid leaks.
  7. If internal transmission components were repaired or replaced check the Transmission fluid level and adjust if necessary. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    NOTE:

    Transmission Quick Learn must be performed any time the transmission is repaired/replaced and/or the Valve Body or Transmission Control Module(TCM) assembly is replaced. It must also be performed when the adaptation/memory cells are cleared with the scan tool.

    NOTE:

    If the Valve Body or TCM assembly is replaced, the VB/Solenoid Learn procedure must be run.

    NOTE:

    If the vehicle is equipped with the start/stop feature, it must be disabled prior to performing this procedure.

  8. If any internal transmission repairs were performed or the Transmission Control Module (TCM) was replaced perform the Quick Learn procedure.
  9. If any internal transmission repairs were performed or the Transmission Control Module (TCM) was replaced, perform the TCM ADAPTATION procedure. Refer to TCM ADAPTATION  .
  10. Perform the ROAD TEST PROCEDURE

    ROAD TEST PROCEDURE 

    1. Operate the vehicle in a manner that will allow 15-20 upshifts through all of the gears.
    2. Allow these shifts to occur from 0 kPh (0 mph) to 72 kPh (45 mph) with a constant throttle opening of 20 to 25 degrees.
    3. Operate the vehicle below 40 kPh (25 mph) and then perform a throttle kick-down maneuver to 1st gear. Do this several times from below 40 kPh (25 mph).
    4. Operate the vehicle on a highway at a steady speed and steady throttle in 7th or 8th gear. Use manual mode if equipped to prevent shifting and remain in selected gear. Use the scan tool to make sure enable conditions are met:
      • Gear is 7th or 8th.
      • Torque Converter Clutch state is engaged (Torque converter closed/ Clutch engaged).
      • TCC solenoid current (Current, Pressure controller Out4) is greater than 460 mA.
      • Maintain all above conditions for a minimum of 5 minutes.
    5. With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.

    Did any TCM DTCs set?

    Yes 

    No 

    • Test complete.
