Disassembly And Assembly: Disassembly
NOTE:
The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Rear (HVACR) housing must be removed from the vehicle and disassembled for service of the A/C evaporator, heater core, mode-air door and the blend-air door.
- Remove the HVACR housing and place it on a workbench. Refer to HOUSING, A/C AND HEATER, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the blower motor wire harness connector (2).
- Remove the blower motor to HVACR housing screws (3) and remove the blower motor (1).
- Disconnect the rear blower motor power module wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the blower motor power module to HVACR housing screws (2) and remove the module (3).
- Disconnect the HVACR module wire harness connector.
- Remove the HVACR module to HVACR housing screws and remove the HVACR module.
- Remove the rear blend and mode door actuator.
- Disengage the rear HVACR housing wire harness connector from the retaining tab and remove the harness from the housing
- Remove the rear expansion valve cover to HVACR housing screws (3) and remove the cover.NOTE:
Carefully remove the foam seal from the bottom of the HVACR housing. Replace the seal if it is deformed or damaged.
- Remove the screws (2) that secure together the two halves of the HVACR housing (1).
- Carefully disengage the plastic retaining clips (2) and separate the two housing halves.NOTE:
If the foam seal around the A/C evaporator is deformed or damaged, the seal must be replaced.
- Carefully lift the rear A/C evaporator (1) and rear heater core (2) out of the outboard half of the HVACR housing and remove and discard the rubber O-ring seals. If the foam seals around the rear evaporator are deformed or damaged, they must be replaced.NOTE:
If a rubber seal on an air door is deformed or damaged, the air door must be replaced.
- Remove the blend-air door (1) and the mode-air door (2) from the outboard side of the HVACR housing (3).
