Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING:

Review the warnings and cautions for this system before performing the procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.

CAUTION:

Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.

CAUTION:

Any factory-installed air seals or shrouds must be properly reinstalled when servicing the A/C condenser. Failure to follow this caution may result in the A/C and engine cooling systems not operating to design standards and possible engine and transaxle damage due to overheating.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, FRONT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the radiator side deflectors.

  5. Remove A/C discharge and liquid line nuts (1, 4) from the condenser and remove A/C lines (2, 3) from the condenser. Discard  the O-ring seals and gaskets.
  6. Install plugs in or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and condenser ports.
  7. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  8. Remove the transmission cooler. Refer to COOLER, TRANSMISSION OIL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  9. Remove the condenser to radiator bolts (1).
  10. Lift the A/C condenser (2) straight upward to disengage the lower condenser mounting brackets (3) from the radiator and remove the condenser from the engine compartment.
