Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING:

Review the warnings and cautions for this system before performing the procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.

Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, FRONT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

Remove the A/C suction and liquid line to rear expansion valve nut (2).
Disconnect the A/C suction and liquid lines from the rear A/C expansion valve. Remove and DISCARD the O-ring seals.

Remove the two bolts (3) that secure the rear A/C expansion valve (2) to the rear A/C evaporator (1), which extends through the rear floor panel.
Remove the rear A/C expansion valve (2) from the rear A/C evaporator and remove and DISCARD the O-ring seals.
Install plugs in or tape over the opened underbody refrigerant line fittings and the rear evaporator and expansion valve ports.
