Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column. Refer to COLUMN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Remove and DISCARD  the brake booster push rod locking tab (4) by disengaging the two tabs (3) from the retainer (2) and pulling it forward out of the retainer (2).
  4. Remove and DISCARD  the push rod retainer (2) from the brake pedal assembly by pulling rearward on the two tabs (1) and sliding off of the brake pedal. Slide the retainer (2) up and then off of the brake booster push rod.
  5. Remove the brake pedal sensor from the pedal bracket. Refer to SENSOR, STOP LAMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  6. Disconnect the accelerator pedal wire harness connector (1).
  7. Remove the wire harness retainers from the brake pedal pan.
  8. Remove the pedal bracket assembly to brake booster mounting fasteners (2).
  9. Remove the pedal bracket assembly to dash mounting fasteners (3).
  10. Remove the brake pedal bracket assembly.
