Removal And Installation: Removal
Release the Electric Park Brake (EPB) before proceeding.
Removal process is the same for both sides of the vehicle.
To remove the vehicle from Service Mode, press the EPB switch while also depressing the brake pedal.
For information on Service Mode and normal operating conditions. Refer to MODULE, ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE (EPBM), DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
The electronic parking brake actuator EPB must be retracted prior to removing the brake caliper assembly. This can be done in two ways:
- A diagnostic scan tool (Service Mode position).
- Through Uconnect®.
- The EPB button on the dash.
If the Electric Park Brake (EPB) switch is actuated with the caliper removed from the caliper bracket and still connected electrically, the EPB motor will fully extend causing damage to the caliper piston. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Disconnect the EPB actuator wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the EPB actuator to brake caliper mounting fasteners (2).
- Remove the EPB actuator (3) from the brake caliper.
- Remove and DISCARD the O-ring seal (1) from the caliper housing (2).
