Removal And Installation: Removal
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the rear belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the exhaust as necessary. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the electrical connectors (1).
- Hang the rear calipers (2) securely out of the way. Refer to CALIPER, DISC BRAKE, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Using a suitable lifting device, support the lower control arms and remove the bolts (1) to separate the upper shock mounts from the vehicle.
- Raise the vehicle and using a suitable marking device, mark the position of the crossmember on the rear frame rails (1).
- Using a suitable marking device, mark the position of the trailing arm bushing on the rear frame rails (1).
- Remove the front trailing arm bushing (2) bolts (1).
- Support the crossmember (1) with a suitable lifting device remove and DISCARD the front (3) and rear (2) bolts.
- Remove the crossmember (1) and remove the trailing arms. Refer to LINK, TRAILING, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the rear knuckles. Refer to KNUCKLE, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the camber, spring and toe links. Refer to LINK, CAMBER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or LINK, SPRING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or LINK, TOE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the shock absorbers. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
