Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) Module DTCs and record on the repair order.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the Radio on.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

  2. CHECK THE (X478) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (+) CIRCUIT AND (X479) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (-) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the PCM C1 Harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the ANC Module harness connector.
    4. Measure the resistance of the (X478) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (+) circuit and the (X479) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (-) circuit between the PCM C1 harness connector and the ANC Module C3 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  3

      No

      • Repair the (X478) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (+) circuit or the (X479) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (-) circuit for an open circuit or high resistance.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL FROM THE PCM
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Connect the PCM C1 Harness connector.
    3. Using an oscilloscope, determine if the PCM is generating a clean square wave signal (RPM information) by connecting to the (X478) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (+) circuit and the (X479) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (-) circuit at the ANC Module C3 harness connector.

Is the PCM generating a clean square wave signal with the engine running?

      Yes

      No

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read ANC Module DTCs and record on the repair order.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the Radio on.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes

      No
