- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (X478) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (+) CIRCUIT AND (X479) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (-) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the PCM C1 Harness connector.
- Disconnect the ANC Module harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (X478) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (+) circuit and the (X479) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (-) circuit between the PCM C1 harness connector and the ANC Module C3 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

- Repair the (X478) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (+) circuit or the (X479) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (-) circuit for an open circuit or high resistance.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL FROM THE PCM
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect the PCM C1 Harness connector.
- Using an oscilloscope, determine if the PCM is generating a clean square wave signal (RPM information) by connecting to the (X478) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (+) circuit and the (X479) CRANKSHAFT PULSE SIGNAL (-) circuit at the ANC Module C3 harness connector.
Is the PCM generating a clean square wave signal with the engine running?
Yes
