Removal And Installation: Installation
NOTE:
If installing a new actuator, there are two locating dowels that may have stayed in the case, remove them from the case as the dowels will come installed in the new actuator.
- Using a clean lint free cloth, wipe the sealing surfaces clean.NOTE:
Do not use solvent to clean the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) components.
- Install a NEW gasket (2) in the groove on the shift actuator (1).
- Place the shift actuator (1) in position on the PTU.
- Engage the shift fork (3) in the groove on the shift sleeve in the PTU and align the locating dowels.NOTE:
Do not reuse the shift actuator mounting screws.
- Install NEW shift actuator fasteners (2) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the PTU in the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Verify that the PTU is properly filled. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Road test the vehicle to verify the repair.
