Theory Of Operation

The purpose of the diagnostic is to detect circuit failures on the sensor supply voltage. The 9 volt sensor supply voltage is used by the Input and Output Speed Sensors and the Transmission Range Switch (TRS) in the Transmission. The monitoring is performed internal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) by evaluating the sensor supply voltage output level to detect short to battery, short to ground or open circuit failures.
