Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read Video Routing Module (VRM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the Radio on.
    5. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    6. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE VIDEO CABLE CONNECTION AT THE EXTERNAL DISC MODULE (EDM) 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Inspect the video cable connection at the rear of the External Disc Module (EDM).

      Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Repair the video cable connection as needed and check video operation.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE VIDEO CABLE CONNECTION AT THE VIDEO ROUTING MODULE (VRM) 
    1. Inspect the video cable connection at the Video Routing Module (VRM).

      Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Repair the video cable connection as needed and check video operation.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CHECK THE VIDEO CABLE CONNECTION AT ALL IN-LINE HARNESS CONNECTORS 
    1. Using the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM as a guide, locate and inspect all in-line harness connectors.

      Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

      • Repair the video cable connection as needed and check video operation.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. TEST THE LVDS CABLE 
    NOTE:

    To continue with this test, you must obtain Special Tool (9977-6-12) Test Cable

    1. Connect Special Tool (9977-6-12) Test Cable between the VRM and EDM.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  6

      No 

      • Replace the Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) Video Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  6. TEST THE VIDEO ROUTING MODULE 
    NOTE:

    To continue with this test, you must secure a Known Good VRM.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Connect a known good VRM to the LVDS cable and connect the EDM harness connector.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Replace the External Disc Module (EDM) in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No
