Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the saved DTC information recorded on the repair order and the When Monitored Conditions, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To 2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE VIDEO CABLE CONNECTION AT THE EXTERNAL DISC MODULE (EDM) 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Inspect the video cable connection at the rear of the External Disc Module (EDM).

      Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?

      Yes 

      • Go To 3

      No 

      • Repair the video cable connection as needed.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE VIDEO CABLE CONNECTION AT THE VIDEO ROUTING MODULE (VRM) 
    1. Inspect the video cable connection at the rear of the VRM.

      Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?

      Yes 

      • Go To 4

      No 

      • Repair the video cable connection as needed.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. TEST THE LVDS CABLE 
    NOTE:

    To continue with this test, you must secure a Known Good Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) Cable.

    1. Connect a known good LVDS cable between the EDM and VRM.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To 5

      No 

      • Replace the Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) Video Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. REPLACE THE EDM - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    NOTE:

    To continue with this test, you must secure a Known Good EDM.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Connect a known good EDM to the LVDS cable.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Replace the External Disc Module (EDM) in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No
