Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
Be sure the thumbwheels on the Dimmer Module are turned fully on during this test.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
- Turn the ignition on to off three times.
- Turn the park lamps on.
- Turn the ignition on and wait one minute.
- With the scan tool, read DDM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (M33) DOOR AMBIENT LAMP FEED DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the inner door panel trim in accordance with the Service Information.
- Leave the Driver Door Map Pocket and Handle Lamp connector connected.
- Disconnect the Driver Door Module C5 harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage between ground and the (M33) Door Ambient Lamp Feed Driver circuit in the Driver Door Module C5 harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (M33) Door Ambient Lamp Feed Driver circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (M33) DOOR AMBIENT LAMP FEED DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.NOTE:
Make sure the Driver Door Map Pocket and Handle Lamps connectors are still connected.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between B (+) and the (M33) Door Ambient Lamp Feed Driver circuit in the DDM C5 harness connector.
- Connect a jumper wire between ground and the (M34) Door Lighting Return Driver circuit in the DDM C5 harness connector
Does the Driver Door Map Pocket and Handle Lamps illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Go To 4
- Turn the ignition off.
- CHECK THE (M33) DOOR AMBIENT LAMP FEED DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect the Driver Door Map Pocket and Handle Lamp harness connectors.
- Measure the resistance of the (M33) Door Ambient Lamp Feed Driver circuit between the DDM C5 harness connector; and the harness connectors for the Driver Door Map Pocket and Driver Door Handle Lamps.
Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the (M33) Door Ambient Lamp Feed Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (M34) DRIVER DOOR LIGHTING RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the (M34) Door Lighting Return Driver circuit between the DDM C5 harness connector; and the harness connectors for the Driver Door Map Pocket Lamp and Driver Door Handle Lamps.
Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Driver Door Ambient Lamp(s) as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair the (M34) Door Lighting Return Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance of the (M34) Door Lighting Return Driver circuit between the DDM C5 harness connector; and the harness connectors for the Driver Door Map Pocket Lamp and Driver Door Handle Lamps.
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all Driver Door Module harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all Driver Door Module harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Vehicle Scan Report, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DDM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Driver Door Module (DDM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DOOR (DDM/PDM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
