Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. Record the Environmental Data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    5. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK FOR DAMAGED WIRING OR INCORRECT WIRING ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

    1. Disconnect the Occupant Restraint Controller connectors.
    2. Inspect for damaged wiring or incorrect wiring terminal locations.
    3. Review vehicle repair history to determine if incorrect repair may be the cause.
      NOTE:

      Probing of the circuit cavities at the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) body harness connectors and in-line connectors using test kit 2022900080 for back probing the terminal will prevent vehicle wiring harness connector damage during diagnostic procedures.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER PART NUMBER 
    1. Check the part number for the ORC to insure it is correct.

      Is the correct ORC in the vehicle?

      Yes 

      WARNING:

      If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
