Description And Operation: Operation

The air duct temperature sensors monitor the air temperature of the A/C air distribution duct work and supplies an input signal to the HVAC module. The input signal value is used to optimize the A/C system performance. The air duct temperature sensor resistance value will change in response to the air temperature output of the air distribution duct work. The resistance value is electronically transferred to the HVAC module using a sensor ground circuit and a 5-volt reference signal circuit. Normal operation of the sensor: the resistive value decreases when the duct work air temperature decreases and the sensor resistive value increases when the duct work air temperature increases.

The HVAC module control uses the monitored voltage readings as an indication of air outlet temperature. The HVAC module is programmed to respond to this and other inputs by adjusting the blend and the mode air door positions, and by cycling the A/C clutch ON and OFF as necessary in order to automatically adjust the HVAC system to the operator temperature preference setting.

The air duct temperature sensors are diagnosed using a scan tool. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

The air duct temperature sensors cannot be adjusted or repaired and must be replaced if inoperative or damaged.
