Removal And Installation

CAUTION:

If an internal failure of the A/C compressor has occurred the A/C system must be flushed and the A/C receiver/drier filter must be replaced. Failure to flush the system and replace the A/C receiver/drier filter can cause serious damage to the replacement A/C compressor.

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, FRONT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the front belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Remove the A/C receiver/drier filter (1) from the A/C condenser.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Install the A/C receiver/drier filter to the A/C condenser and tighten the retainer securely.
  2. Install the front belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  4. Evacuate the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, FRONT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Charge the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, FRONT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
