Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

The LH cylinder head hydraulic lifters are shown, the RH cylinder head hydraulic lifters are similar.

  1. Remove the camshaft(s). Refer to CAMSHAFT, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
    NOTE:

    If the rocker arms are to be reused, identify their positions so that they can be reassembled into their original locations.

  2. Remove the rocker arm(s). Refer to ROCKER ARM, VALVE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    NOTE:

    If the hydraulic lifters are to be reused, identify their positions so that they can be reassembled into their original locations.

  3. The exhaust hydraulic lifters (1) should have been removed with the rockers arms, as they are attached with a retaining clip.
    NOTE:

    The exhaust hydraulic lifter and exhaust rocker arm should not be unclipped during diagnosis and handling.

  4. Remove the intake hydraulic lifter(s) (1).
