Removal And Installation: Upstream: Installation

LEFT SIDE 

  1. If reinstalling the original oxygen sensor, coat the sensor threads with an anti-seize compound such as Loctite 771- 64 or equivalent. New sensors have compound on the threads and do not require an additional coating. Do Not add any additional anti-seize compound to the threads of a new oxygen sensor.

  2. Install the left upper oxygen sensor (2) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to FUEL INJECTION, GAS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the cable tie securing the wire harness at the EGR cooler tube.
  4. Connect the left upper oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).
  5. Install the supplemental battery. Refer to BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

RIGHT SIDE 

  1. If reinstalling the original oxygen sensor, coat the sensor threads with an anti-seize compound such as Loctite 771- 64 or equivalent.   2. Install the right upstream oxygen sensor (2) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to FUEL INJECTION, GAS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the intake air hose to the resonator and tighten the clamp to the proper specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
