Removal And Installation: Removal
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the hub and bearing assembly. Refer to HUB AND BEARING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the outer tie rod nut (3) at the steering knuckle.
- Using special tool (special tool #9360, Remover, Ball Joint), separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.
- Remove and DISCARD the lower ball joint stud pinch bolt (2).
- Using a pry bar, separate the lower control arm from the steering knuckle.
- Remove the lower strut assembly mounting bolts (1).NOTE:
Do not allow the halfshaft to hang by the inner C/V joint; it must be supported to keep the joint from separating during this operation.
- Remove the steering knuckle from the strut assembly.
