Removal And Installation: Installation

NOTE:

Installation process is the same for both sides of the vehicle.

NOTE:

The brake pads are shipped without the shims installed. The brake pad shims must be installed to the brake pads before the brake pads are installed.

  1. Install NEW  anti-rattle clips (2) to the caliper adapter bracket.
  2. Position the inner and outer brake pads (1) in the caliper adapter bracket.

  3. Completely retract the caliper piston back into the bore of the caliper. Use a C-clamp to retract the piston. Place a wood block over the piston before installing the C-clamp to avoid damaging the piston.
  4. Install the brake caliper to the front brake caliper adapter bracket.
  5. Install the brake caliper bolts (3) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  8. Pump the brake pedal several times before moving the vehicle to set the pads to the brake rotor.
  9. Check and adjust the brake fluid level in the reservoir as necessary.
  10. Road test the vehicle and make several stops to wear off any foreign material on the brakes and to seat the brake pads.
