Removal And Installation: Removal
NOTE:
LH shown in illustration, RH typical.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the protective plug used to cover the slide plate screw (2) located rearward of the door lock cylinder/delete cap.
- Using a suitable tool (1), turn the screw (2) counter-clockwise to move the slide plate forward in the outside door handle bracket. Do not attempt to remove the slide plate screw. NOTE:
- Both the door handle and end cap must be held in place at the same time while resetting the bell crank.
- Door handle will stay in the open position when the bell crank is reset properly. Do not proceed with the repair procedure until the handle stays in the open position.
- Continue to turn the screw until it reaches the end of it's travel, then push in the screw slightly.
- Remove the cap (1).
- After the cap is removed press in on the screw again and hold it while pulling out on the handle and pull out on the rear of the handle until the handle stays in the open position.
- Slide handle (3) rearward and out.
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (2) and remove the handle (3).
