Diagnostic Test
- CHECK PCM FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DTCS
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
Are there any charging system or battery DTCs set in the PCM?
Yes
- Repair the PCM DTC(s). Refer to POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), 3.6L .
No
- Go To 2
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
- CHECK OTHER MODULES FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DTCS
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Are there any other modules setting a charging system or battery related DTC?
Yes
- This is an indication of a charging/battery system malfunction. Check the battery/charging system in accordance with the Service Information
No
- Go To 3
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read OCM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- With the scan tool, read OCM DTCs.
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect all OCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all OCM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read OCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) and seat cushion foam in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION (OCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE (OCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE (OCM) VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- OCM re-zero procedure complete. Perform the Standard Procedure OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE (OCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE (OCM) VERIFICATION TEST .
