Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.NOTE:
Seat will not function with this DTC present.
- Check for weighted object on seat or obstruction that could inhibit proper function.
- With the scan tool, perform the Write Right Rear Seat Position procedure. If seat is in latched position write "Normal", if seat is not in latched position write "Stow".
- With the scan tool, perform the Service Calibration procedure.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Press the right recline seat switch forward and rearward multiple times.
- With the scan tool, read FSM DTCs.
Is the same DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE RIGHT FOLDING SEAT RECLINER OPERATION
- Turn the ignition off.
- Check the seat for any of the following possible mechanical problems:
- Broken seat welds.
- Broken, cracked or bent frame.
- Any objects or obstructions that may inhibit recliner mechanical operation.
- Anything that could cause the recline motor to run further than normal in either direction.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- PERFORM THE SERVICE CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
- With the scan tool, perform the Service Calibration procedure.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Press the right recline seat switch forward and rearward multiple times.
- With the scan tool, read FSM DTCs.
Is the same DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repairing the wiring or connectors corrected the condition.
- Perform the POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
- REPLACE THE RIGHT SEAT RECLINER MOTOR - PERFORM THE POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- Replace the Right Seat Recliner Motor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MOTOR, RECLINER, POWER FOLDING SEAT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST

Is the same DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Replacing the Recliner Motor corrected the condition.
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect all FSM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all FSM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read FSM DTCs.
Is the same DTC active?
Yes
- Replace the Folding Seat Module (FSM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, FOLD STOW (FSM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repairing the wiring harness or connections corrected the problem.
- Perform the POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
