Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the saved DTC information recorded on the repair order and the When Monitored Conditions, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To 2

      No 

  2. VERIFY THE CORRECT REGION CODE IS PROGRAMMED INTO THE EDM 
    1. With the scan tool, verify that the EDM region code is configured correctly for the applicable locale.

      Is the EDM region code configured correctly?

      Yes 

      • Go To 3

      No 

      • Configure the EDM region code correctly for the applicable locale.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK EDM OPERATION WITH A DISC THAT HAS THE CORRECT REGION CODE - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. Remove the problem disc and insert a disc that has the region code set for the applicable locale.
    2. With the scan tool, erase EDM DTCs.
    3. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. Refer to the saved DTC information recorded on the repair order and the DTC When Monitored Conditions.
    6. Operate the EDM using the radio controls under the same conditions that the DTC was set.
    7. With the scan tool, read EDM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Eject the disc.
      • Replace the External Disc Module (EDM) in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Replacing the problem disc corrected the condition.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
