Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To 2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE (J107) VIDEO CABLE CONNECTIONS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Inspect the video cable connection at the rear of the Display Screen Module (DSM).
    3. Inspect the video cable connection at the rear of the Radio.

      Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Repair the video cable connection as needed.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. TEST THE (J107) LVDS CABLE 
    1. Connect the 9977-6-14 HSD-LVDS Adapter test cable between the Radio and DSM.(special tool #9977-6-14, Adapter, HSD-LVDS 4-Pin)
    2. Turn the ignition on.
    3. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Replace the Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) Video Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CONNECT A KNOWN GOOD RADIO TO THE LVDS VIDEO CABLE - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    NOTE:

    To continue with this test, you must secure a known good Radio.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Connect a known good Radio to the LVDS cable.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. Turn the ignition off for at least 5 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
    6. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      No
