- Using a scan tool, view the LTM PIDs.
- Operate the liftgate manually while monitoring the LTM PIDs :
- Detent Switch Status (DETENTSW)
- Forkbolt Switch Status (FORKBLT_S)
- Forkbolt Secondary Switch (FKSWSEC)
- Begin with the liftgate in the open position, then slowly close the liftgate into each of the latch positions specified.
Liftgate Latch Position DETENTSW FORKBLT_S FKSWSEC Fully unlatched Inactive Active Active Primary Active Inactive Inactive
Do the switch states agree with the table?
Yes GO to A6. No GO to Pinpoint Test L . - A6 CHECK THE OPTICAL SENSOR 1 (OPT_SEN_1) AND 2 (OPT_SEN_2) STATUS PIDs
- Open the liftgate to the full OPEN position.
- Using the scan tool, view LTM PIDs.
- Monitor the LTM PIDs OPT_SEN_1 and OPT_SEN_2 while slowly closing the liftgate.
Do both of the PID values alternate from ACTIVE to INACTIVE while the liftgate is moving?
Yes GO to A7. No GO to Pinpoint Test K . - A7 CHECK THE MOTOR AND LATCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LTM C4174A.
- Disconnect: Power Liftgate Motor.

Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit in question. No GO to A8. - A8 CHECK THE MOTOR AND LATCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4174A-2 Ground C4174A-3 Ground C4174A-5 Ground C4174A-6 Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to A9. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - A9 CHECK THE MOTOR AND LATCH CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- For the power liftgate motor, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4174A-5 C4223-1 C4174A-6 C4223-4
- For the power liftgate latch, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4174A-2 C4819-5 C4174A-3 C4819-7
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to A10. No REPAIR the circuit in question. - For the power liftgate motor, measure:
- A10 CHECK THE UNLATCH OPERATION
- Connect: Power Liftgate Latch.
- Close and latch the liftgate.
- Momentarily connect a fused jumper wire:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4174A-3 C4174A-4 C4174A-2 C4174A-1
Does the unlatch/cinching motor activate?
Yes LEAVE the liftgate unlatched, GO to A11. No INSTALL a new power liftgate latch. REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems With Intelligent Access (IA) . - A11 CHECK THE POWER LIFTGATE MOTOR OPERATION
- Connect: Power Liftgate Motor.
- Place the liftgate in the fully closed and unlatched position.
- Momentarily connect a fused jumper wire:
